In high school, I saw the example of my associate pastor Fr. Dane Westhoff, and I wanted to be like him. During my senior year, I went on a Come and See to "give seminary a shot" but to try to cross it off as I desired to be a husband and a father. On the Come and See however, the vocations director asked me why not seminary, and I did not have a good answer to that question. That question however stirred something up in me, and I talked to my youth minister, Danny Zink about it. I told him that I had this experience on the Come and See, but I don't know if I should apply. Danny stopped me and said, "John, we would not be having this conversation if you didn't know." Soon after that I got an application and was accepted to seminary. Since being in seminary I have learned how much God loves me, and I have learned to pray better and more regularly. I am very grateful for all that the Lord has done in my life!
